Mint Hotel Bristol’s signature restaurant City Café, has been awarded one star by the Sustainable Restaurants Association as part of its commitment to providing diners with a sustainable food experience.
The Sustainable Restaurants Association, a not for profit membership organisation, tested the hotel on three key areas of sustainability; society, environment and sourcing.
City Café Bristol prides itself on its commitment to sustainability, sourcing the highest quality local produce from the surrounding South West region. This ethos is championed by Head Chef, Matt Lord, who works closely with suppliers to ensure that the restaurant’s ethical sourcing standards are maintained. “Using locally-sourced produce in my recipes and adopting sustainable practices in my kitchen and in the way we operate the restaurant, is something I am whole-heartedly passionate about, says Matt.
Group Executive Chef, Scott Macdonald echoes Matt’s passion by insisting his teams throughout the UK and Amsterdam actively seek out local – and where possible organic – quality suppliers to bring guests’ of City Café the very best of what’s in season, always.
The Sustainable Restaurants Association also found that City Café’s impact on the environment has been minimised by ensuring that all staff engage in energy and water efficient practices.
City Café offers guests a modern European cuisine experience mixing the classic with the contemporary, with each awarded AA Rosettes and City Café Bristol with two Rosettes under Matt Lord’s leadership.
